Because of the summer rains this year, the grounds are very lush, or in field trial terms THICK as a BRICK! Highland in the fall is always a challenge for the trial dogs, the grasses are 4' and greater in height which retains the heat along with no water on the grounds. Earlier in the week both the Highland club and the Grand Valley club donated funds to get Bill Darr to brush-hog as much as he could, this is always a battle with the DNR who want and view the grounds as an arboretum rather then a field trial ground! "Come on get it together!"
This year our club drew no puppy or derby dogs, but the Shooting dog classes showed up. Our judges for this year was Dave Havlin and Larry Coleman, judges are from the horseback Brittany world and were received well, again thank you gentleman! The luncheon for the Highland Trial was cooked and prepared by both Mr. Sposita and Ron Sposita, homemade pasta with sides of meatballs and sausage with a side of salad was provided by the club.
